This month’s gift giving was nominated by Gemma Baldock in memory of Maisy.
On 21st August, Gemma’s friends lost their beautiful 8-year old daughter Maisy, after a tragic accident. Her younger sister, Isla, was also hurt and was taken to Kings Hospital by air ambulance. She needed urgent brain surgery. The doctors were prepared to give her another 45 minutes to an hour to live. She is 4 years old. Luckily her blood thickened enough within the 45-minute window, enabling the doctors to operate and save her life.
Without the Kent Air Ambulance and the critical care team, Isla would have died. Donated: Kent Air Ambulance – £333 The family would have lost both their girls. The Rhys Daniels charity enabled Nicole and Andy to stay in a flat, minutes walk from the hospital so that they could be by Isla’s side in the weeks following the accident. Donated: Rhys Daniels Charity – £333
Miraculously, little Isla is now home. The doctors (Donated: Thomas Cook Children’s Critical Care – King’s College Hospital – £333) are confident that she will make a full recovery. She will even be able to start school on the 28th September.
The family are raising money for the above three charities, in memory of Maisy.
