Donal Blaney, Founder of Griffin Law, created The Griffin Law Charitable Foundation to support national and international charities that fit with the Foundation’s ethos and pre-established requirements. Each month, the trustees of the Foundation meet to discuss how to dispense up to £1,000 to good works that may benefit from our funding. This month’s charities happen to be local to our home in West Malling.
Northfleet Angels
Donation amount: £500
Northfleet Angels is a relatively new initiative, centred on providing support and guidance to students. It was set up by concerned staff members at Northfleet School for Girls. The support they have provided has already been invaluable to some students. The students at the school range from 11-18 years of age. Some of the students lack essential items which many take for granted, such as toiletries, uniform and stationary resources. Northfleet Angels works with students to provide them with items that they urgently need. The students are also offered therapy and bespoke reflection rooms to reduce barriers, aid learning and build life skills.
Snodland Cricket Club
Donation amount: £500
The club secured a grant of £5,000 from Sport England for the construction of a training pitch for the cricket club. Unfortunately, that grant did not cover the cost of erecting the cage and net to allow the team to use the training pitch. The club is now seeking to try and raise a further £1,500. The club has raised around £600 from monies contributed by the players and would be grateful for any assistance in making up the rest.

The trustees will then review your submission at the next monthly meeting. If you are approved for funding, the Foundation’s secretary will be in touch regarding the next steps. The next Foundation meeting will take place on Wednesday, 3rd March 2021. Please send your nominations by Monday, 1st March.
