The Griffin Law Charitable Foundation was created by our founder to support national and international charities that fit with the Foundation’s ethos and pre-established requirements. Each month, the trustees of the Foundation meet to discuss how to dispense up to £1,000 to good works that may benefit from our funding. Nominations this month were internal.
Kings A.B.C
Kings A.B.C. is a small community boxing club in Brasted/Sundridge, Kent. The club was started and funded around 25 years ago by Derick Rawlings, a professional boxer in his youth and a stock broker in his later years. For many years, the club enjoyed success on the amateur boxing scene. Unfortunately, following Derick’s death, there was no funding available to advance fighters through the ranks.
Following Derick’s passing, and the pandemic, the club has struggled to stay afloat. All fees go towards rent and insurance. There has been no money for equipment for years. The bags, gloves and ring canvass are all in dire need of replacement.
If the club can purchase the equipment it needs to host shows, then it can start generating revenue to support ongoing costs.
The Griffin Law Charitable Foundation Donation – £680
Young Epilepsy
Our client is currently at ‘end of life’ following a long battle with cancer. We drafted some documents that required a fee to make them legally enforceable. As we did not feel comfortable charging for this work, the Foundation voted to support the client’s choice of charity with a donation equal to the fee paid.
Our client selected an epilepsy charity (Young Epilepsy) as the 20-year-old daughter of a friend passed away from the condition last year.
