Many people will have been severely affected by the recent storms that have hit parts of the UK with properties and personal effects being damaged, including by flooding.
Most property owners and occupiers will have an insurance policy in place which they would expect to pay out when such damage has occurred.
However, it is unfortunately not uncommon for the insurer to try and avoid liability and the insured customers may find themselves in a situation where the insurer refuses to pay out, leaving the customer with the prospect of having to personally foot the bill for what can often be significant repair costs.
Insurance policies are contracts, and their terms will vary widely. It is therefore important to fully understand what is and what is not covered by the policy.
If you have made a claim under your property insurance policy, the insurer has refused to accept that claim, and the necessary complaints procedure has been followed without a successful outcome being achieved, you may have grounds to pursue a claim against the insurer for breach of contract.
If you are dissatisfied with your insurer’s handling of your claim we can help.
